COVID-19 Specific Information for Traveling to Jamaica

All persons intending to travel to Jamaica will need to secure BOTH a Travel Authorization AND a recent COVID-19 test before checking in at the airport. The Travel Authorization application requires information for the Customs/Immigration Form, information on the intended place of stay or residence and a COVID-19 health questionnaire.

The Travel Authorization is required before travelers can check in at the airline, or be allowed entry into Jamaica.

All travelers to Jamaica will need to undergo a COVID-19 PCR/swab test upon entry to the island. This applies to both Jamaican Nationals and Visitors.

Travelers who return a positive test will be required to be quarantined in a government approved facility, at the traveler’s cost. All travelers are encouraged to travel with health insurance.

Results from the swab test are generally available within 24 – 48 hours. During that time, travelers are required to stay in place at home or at their hotels

Please note:

Only results from oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal samples will be accepted for PCR tests

Only results from nasopharyngeal samples will be accepted for Antigen tests

Antibody tests will NOT be accepted
-
Results from home-based test kits will NOT be accepted.

The test must be conducted by a medical laboratory with one of the following credentials:

Accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP)
-
Registered by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

ISO 15189 certification

The date of the sample collection must be less than 10 days from the date of travel to Jamaica. For example: for a travel date of October 20, the earliest the test sample may be collected is October 11.

COVID-19 Information about Jamaica
Jamaicans wishing to renew their passports can obtain application forms by clicking on the Passport Forms Link above, print, complete and send to the nearest consulate in your area or the Embassy in Washington, DC.
Application forms can also be obtained by contacting the Embassy of Jamaica in Washington D.C., the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York or other Jamaican Consulates near to them. The form is free.

NOTE: While we provide application forms, we do not process passports at the Consulate in Seattle. This has to be done at either the Embassy of Jamaica in Washington, D.C., or at one of the Consulate General (New York or Miami).
